- AUSTIN -- Media Excel has announced the HERA 3200i (IPTV) and HERA 3200m (MobileTV) video transcoding appliances, on display in the Media Excel stand #SU-13507 at NAB in Las Vegas.
“For Multi-Platform delivery to become viable, it is imperative for operators to seamlessly convert existing content to fit the capabilities of a particular device. Media Excel’s video transcoding solutions do precisely that: adapt professionally broadcasted TV or user-generated content in real-time to enable IPTV and MobileTV services,” said Thanasis Iatrou, Media Excel President and CEO.
The Hera 3200m MobileTV appliance delivers numerous simultaneous streams with network shaping features and extensive device support for interoperability with all popular video handsets currently deployed in mobile networks.
“Hera 3200 excels the competition in that it natively accepts MPEG2 TS input, either through DVB-ASI or Ethernet. Our transcoding solutions are far and above all others due to the implementation of our widely adopted commercial decoders. Decoding efficiency is half the equation in transcoding,” said James Meeker, Director of Sales.
Media Excel’s HERA 3200 is a carrier-grade appliance designed to be flexible, configurable, customizable, scalable and upgradeable:
* BROADCAST VIDEO QUALITY: Low latency for live broadcasting. * WIDE STANDARDS SUPPORT: Satellite, Cable, IP, and Analog inputs; streaming over DSL, Cell, and DVB networks using IPTV middleware, 3GPP or PC streaming engines. * MAXIMUM FLEXIBILITY: Multi-codec, multi-channel input/output, multiple software configurations (IPTV, MobileTV, PC TV, Live Broadcasting or VoD) in one device. * RELIABILITY AND DENSITY: Real-time processing audio & video, fully redundant, auto-failover, simplified web-based remote management and SNMP monitoring. Space savings in a dense 1RU form factor. * MAXIMUM SPEED: Hardware accelerated file-based transcoding provides up to 10x performance improvement compared to software-based solutions.
“The market response has been tremendous since introducing our transcoding solutions earlier in 2006. Our products are being deployed by the largest content aggregators, IP video telecommunications companies and MobileTV service providers,” James Meeker continued. “We’re winning large opportunities and striving to commoditize this market with the best price/performance solution.”
